The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) Requirements
The OSSD is recognized internationally secondary school diploma by universities and colleges around the world.
Course Credit Requirements
Students must successfully complete 30 credits in order to obtain an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD):
- 18 compulsory credits
- 12 optional credits
- At least 2 online courses (part of 30 credits)
Community Involvement (CIH)
Each student is required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement. The community involvement requirement helps to develop student awareness and understanding of community engagement and civic responsibilities. These activities may be completed at any time while earning secondary school credits.
Literacy Graduation Requirement
Successful completion of the EQAO Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) or the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC)
